The AAP election agent for Kalkaji candidate, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, filed a complaint against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by setting up an election office within 80 m of a polling booth in Govindpuri.
As per Election Commission of India’s guidelines, election offices cannot be set up within 200 m of a designated polling booth.
The complaint was lodged with the Returning Officer by AAP polling agent Vijay Kumar. It stated that Bidhuri’s office was in proximity to the MCD co-ed School in Giri Nagar, which will be a polling booth on February 5 when Delhi votes.
AAP has sought an investigation into the issue, closure of the office and action against the violators.
According to sources at the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office, all complaints regarding poll code violations are being investigated thoroughly.
