PSV and Feyenoord could meet each other in the next Champions League round after Wednesday’s results put the two Dutch teams in the same bracket.
PSV‘s 3-2 win against Champions League leaders Liverpool guaranteed them a seeded spot in the next phase of the Champions League knockouts while Feyenoord‘s devastating 6-1 loss away at Lille handed them an unseeded spot instead of a potential spot in the top 8.
With PSV having finished in 14th place and Feyenoord in 19th, Friday’s Champions League draw could see the two Dutch sides draw each other with Italian giants AC Milan as the only other possible opponent for Feyenoord and Juventus for PSV.
A meeting between PSV and Feyenoord would be the first European game between two Dutch teams since 2002 when Feyenoord and PSV faced off in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. Feyenoord beat PSV after penalties and two 1-1 draws and would go on to win the tournament in their own stadium by beating Borussia Dortmund in the final.
