Rejuvenated Anshul Jubli ready to ‘dominate’ Quillan Salkilld at UFC 312

India’s Anshul Jubli will be back in action in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as a part of the early prelims at UFC 312 at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on Sunday.

The 35-year-old will be going up against unbeaten Quillan Salkild in front of his home crowd in a lightweight bout. Anshul will enter the octagon after more than 470 days, following his debut loss against Mike Breeden back in October of 2023.

With over a year to train and his recurring knee injury issue sorted, Anshul believes he has had a near-perfect training camp ahead of this weekend’s fight.

“Obviously it has been a while since my last fight, but I’ve not stopped training. My grind and hard work never stopped, and I was able to hit the gym and recover after getting my knee fixed. My body and mind are fresh, and I’m pretty confident ahead of the fight,” Anshul said in an interaction with Sportstar.

“MMA is a demanding sport, both physically and mentally. Injuries are part and parcel of it. Apart from the knee issue, I’ve had breathing issues as well, but I managed somehow. But now, with the problems set aside, I hope I can show the fearless version of me when I fight Salkilld,” he added.

In the last quarter of 2024, Salkilld secured a UFC contract after his unanimous decision win against the USA’s Gauge Young. Anshul, on the other hand, has already made his promotional debut. Although the result didn’t go his way, Anshul will have the upper hand this time as he will be comparatively familiar with what to expect when he enters the octagon.

And he aims to put on a show and dominate Salkilld. “I’ve trained specifically for Salkilld, and although he’s a very good fighter, I think he has a lot of weaknesses as well, such as his flat-footedness. I will try to capitalise on those and dominate. I’ll dominate the fight,” Anshul said.
