Denis Shapovalov continues his fine form after reaching the last four of the Mexican Open.

Following a difficult spell in which he suffered several injuries, the Canadian seems to have found his best tennis once again.

The 25-year-old produced an excellent performance to claim the Dallas Open title, and he has carried that momentum into the Mexican Open.

Denis Shapovalov has a strong chance of lifting another title this weekend and this bodes well ahead of the Indian Wells and Miami Masters 1000 tournaments.

Denis Shapovalov reaches new personal landmark after reaching Mexican Open semi-finals

Shapovalov reached the quarter-finals in Mexico without dropping a set, but that changed when he took America’s Marcos Giron.

He took the first set off the Canadian, but Shapovalov was not down for long as he went on to level the match by taking the second set.

After breaking Giron’s serve at 2-2 in the decider, Shapovalov won the next four games to seal a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory.

This was the World number 32’s eighth successive win, which is now the longest win streak of his entire career.

Denis Shapovalov set for rankings boost after Mexican Open

Shapovalov is gradually finding his way back up the ATP Tour rankings.

Whether he wins his semi-final in Acapulco or not, he will return to the World’s top 30 for the first time since August 2023.

But he will be desperate to win his fourth ATP title and to continue his quest for the crown he will face Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Mexican Open semi-finals.

The Spaniard ended the magical run of home favourite Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez, and will now face Shapovalov for the second time.

Their first meeting came at the 2022 Indian Wells Masters, which Shapovalov won 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
