As part of patch 7.25, FFXIV players can explore the Occult Crescent, learning about the ruins and creatures that roam the area. As part of the questline for the area, you’ll actually have to seek out specific survey points, glowing bits on the map you can interact with.
You will need to find the quest-related survey points if you want to participate in the 48-person dungeon “The Forked Towers,” as it won’t unlock until you finish the quest “Past and Crescent.”

Note that there is an additional survey point that you get in the Phantom Village on the west side up the stairs, so it’s not on our map of the South Horn.

Survey points only make up a part of the occult records you have in your little booklet. The others can be obtained via completing critical encounters and quests.
