Honda Cars India has dropped a new teaser on its social media channels, hinting at an upcoming special edition of the City sedan. The teaser, featuring the tagline ‘Ready for a Sportier Life’, strongly suggests that the upcoming variant could be christened as the Honda City Sport Edition.
While official details remain under wraps, the expectations are high for a series of cosmetic enhancements, similar to those seen on the recently launched Elevate Dark Edition. As imagined in our representational image, the City Sport could flaunt a handful of blacked-out elements, both inside and out. This might include a blacked-out front grille, ORVM caps, shark fin antenna, and a subtle boot lid spoiler. We could also see a fresh design for the 16-inch alloy wheels.
Information regarding the interior is limited, but similar thematic upgrades are anticipated to complement the exterior’s cosmetic theme.
Mechanically, the City Sport Edition is likely to remain unchanged. It will continue to be powered by the reliable 1.5-litre petrol engine, which delivers 119bhp and 145Nm of torque. Buyers will have the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT unit. There’s currently no official word on whether this special edition will extend to the hybrid version of the sedan, the City e:HEV.
The City Sport will go up against the Volkswagen Virtus Sport (Rs. 17.84 lakh, ex-showroom) and the Hyundai Verna Turbo (Rs. 15.04 lakh, ex-showroom) variants, which also sport blacked-out elements.
