Harvey Elliott (while being attacked by moths): “Incredible. Lost for words. I said at the start it was going to be very tough. I thought the way the lads handled the pressure, conceding a goal, the lads deserve this. We need to rest and go again.
“I was screaming to Jarell to pass it but I knew he was going to shoot. It was about me following in, and I was there to tap it in.
“There was a major different from start to finish, we were disciplined and compact. We trusted in our own ability. The football was incredible, we need to take a lot from this into the next game.
“The teams we are going to play now are incredible. We need to recover and focus on the Netherlands.”
The Channel 4 reporter seems far more excited by the win than Elliott.
RED CARD! Rafa Marin
Supposedly … Rafa Marin was sent off after the full-time whistle, and James McAtee was booked for his part in the silliness.
It was a really good performance from England. They had a very shaky start but settled in and the two goals in quick succession turned the match on its head. After that, they did not look in too much danger, although I am sure plenty will be upset about giving away the penalty.
I am not exactly sure what happened but there was a good old fashioned melee at the full-time whistle, with plenty of pushing between the two sets of players.

90+3 mins: The ball goes over the top and Rowe races against Iturbe, getting the first touch on the ball before the Spain goalkeeper takes him out.

90+2 mins: Quansah goes for distance, kicking for touch in homage to rugby.
90+1 mins: Morton puts his head where it hurts to win the ball and earn a foul … and a waste a few seconds in the process.
90 mins: Moro beats Hinshelwood all ends up and sends in a cross but Cresswell heads clear.

89 mins: Spain are on the attack but England are holding firm, making them work it side to side.
88 mins: A decent cross goes into the box and Fernandez rises highest but his header goes straight at Beadle.
Down the other end, Norton-Cuffy drives into the box and lets fly, only to see his strike ripple the side netting.
86 mins: Rowe’s key role now is to win free-kicks. Tarrega is the latest to foul him.
Nwaneri wins the ball inside the Spain half and has a lot of space to run into, eventually reaching the box and shooting, only to see it blocked.
84 mins: Pubill bizarrely pushes over Rowe to relieve the pressure on England. The Three Lions are dong their best to waste time.
Rodriguez tries to take on Norton-Cuffy inside the box but can’t do it, so decides to perform a spectacular dive instead. No penalty.
82 mins: Nwaneri comes on for Stansfield and seems to be playing down the middle. Stansfield needs some electrolytes.
80 mins: Anderson tries to send the ball through to Stansfield, it looks like Tarrega has it covered but he falls over and allows the striker through. Unfortunately, Stansfield is completely knackered and can’t run, so Mosquera gets back and the danger is gone.
78 mins: Anderson lifts a delicious cross into the box for the unmarked Hinshelwood to attack but he heads over.
Moleiro off, Rodriguez on.
76 mins: England win a corner on the right thanks to Bueno. Anderson takes it but Spain deal with it.
Morton runs it back and throws himself to ground under the slightest of pressure just inside the area. The referee is having none of it and rightly so. A desperate dive.
74 mins: Moleiro has the chance to shoot from 20 yards but Cresswell deflects it wide.
Norton-Cuffy is playing as a right midfielder to offer extra protection on that side.
72 mins: Subs galore! Hackney and Norton-Cuffy, replace Elliott and McAtee.
Lopez and Joseph off, Fernandez and Torre on.
70 mins: Pubill thrashes a low cross to the front post but Cresswell does incredibly well to turn the ball behind and not into his own net.
Morton leads a break and gets to about 20 yards from goal before deciding to take it upon himself to shoot, sending the ball just wide.
68 mins: Substitute Moro looks like he has the beating of England left-back Hinshelwood. Will Carsley make a change?
66 mins: Rowe drives into the box and takes aim but Pubill blocks his shot, giving England a corner in the process. Can they find the dangerous Cresswell? No, and it goes straight out the other side from Morton.
64 mins: Elliott slides in to win the ball first and then offers a bit of a chest pump to encourage his teammates.
62 mins: DOUBLE SAVE! Guerra sweeps a first-time shot at goal and Beadle parries it straight back to him to finish at the second time of asking but the goalkeeper is equal to him.
Joseph gets another chance soon after, cutting in from the left and shooting but Beadle is right behind it.
60 mins: Stansfield gets in a good position and tries to find McAtee in the box but a red shirt removes the danger.
59 mins: There is an element of scrappiness to the match now> Maybe everyone is a bit tired or know what is at stake with just over half an hour to go.
57 mins: Jaureguizar and Moro on, Turrientes and Juanli off.
55 mins: England give the ball away in their defensive third and Spain push forward. Eventually Joseph has a chance to shoot but his effort is blocked.
Jaureguizar is getting ready.
53 mins: Rowe and Anderson combine on the left. The Forest man tries to cross into the six-yard box but his attempt is turned behind. The corner comes to nothing.
51 mins: England win a corner after a smart run from Stansfield. Elliott takes it and finds Cresswell at the back post but his header hits the sidenetting.
Rowe and Anderson on for England. Scott and Hutchinson off.
49 mins: Great work from Quansah, allows him to find Huchinson on the edge of the box from where he produces a backheel to Stansfield whose shot is deflected over.
47 mins: England need to wrest back control of this mach in the opening 15 minutes of this half. Get in Spain’s faces and show them they are not afraid.

Half-time: Spain 1-2 England
After VAR let England off from a penalty in the opening few minutes, Carsley’s team dominated for a long period, earning a deserved two-goal lead. There was no doubt about the second spot-kick awarded by the referee and it was all England’s fault, to make the second half very nervous.
45+4 mins: England are doing their best to waste time and see this through.
45+2 mins: Spain’s backs are up. Beadle comes out to claim a cross and remove the pressure for a moment or two.
45 mins: Five minutes added on.
44 mins: England are looking edgy after the penalty. Bueno lifts in a cross but Hinshelwood is the first one to meet it.
42 mins: Pubill whacks into Hutchinson, who is down and needing treatment after the defender’s boot catches him in the head. The referee belatedly stops play.
40 mins: Scott will be feeling very silly. So much good work from England and they have put themselves under pressure.
Guerra has another chance soon after the restart. It looks like the 30-yard shot is going towards the net but just flashes over.

38 mins: PENALTY TO SPAIN! Stupid from Scott, who tries to dribble out from the back and is dispossessed. Moleiro runs through into the box and is tripped by Quansah. How very silly from England.
36 mins: Tom emails: “It’s interesting how many of England’s better players are up for sale. McAtee is available, as it would appear are all three Liverpool players starting, which shows the standard at their clubs.
”Would think their clubs should be putting buy-back clauses in place for them when they do go, though that doesn’t seem such a common thing any more.”
34 mins: Beadle casually dribbles out of his box and takes on a Spain player. England are not lacking confidence.
A yellow card for Morton but a poor challenge. That means he would be suspended for any semi-final.
