Transfer deadline day is fast approaching with a number of big moves still to be completed.

Several clubs have made notable additions between now and the end of last season, with a mini-window that opened up ahead of the Club World Cup facilitating moves for players including Matheus Cunha, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Rayan Cherki among others.

Almost every club in the Premier League remains keen on at least one addition before the end of the window, with the deadline to secure the last few deals fast approaching.

Here’s everything you need to know about the final days of the transfer window:

“It sends a message to other teams,” declared Djed Spence. “We can beat any team.” If the message last season was that Tottenham Hotspur could lose to any team, perhaps it has been flipped. Although, some might say, any Tottenham team can beat Manchester City. Their domestic dominance may be over but in, recent years, City have lost to Spurs sides under the auspices of Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, Antonio Conte, Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank and even Cristian Stellini.

Typical Tottenham, then, even if the phrase could have other connotations. Saturday’s terrific display against the former champions had the feel of a mission statement; not just that Spurs could win, but how they could. They were separated by 14 places last season, but 17th beat third. Spence has his sights set on a top-four finish. “Of course, there’s no reason [why not], if we perform like that week in, week out,” he added.

The performance made it seem a realistic aim. To do so, however, would fly in the face of recent history. Two decades ago, David Moyes’s Everton finished 17th one season, fourth the next. No one has done so since. There has been a more spectacular rise in the meantime, Leicester going from 14th to first, but there has been a certain familiarity about the top of many a Premier League table.

Leeds have agreed an £8m fee with Leicester for full-back James Justin as Daniel Farke is closing in on his 10th summer signing.

The deal could rise to £10m, depending on add-ons, and would take the promoted club’s spending in this transfer window past £100m.

And Justin’s arrival would enable Farke to strengthen his defence after Leeds conceded five goals in Saturday’s defeat to Arsenal.

Eberechi Eze and Arsenal, a marriage made in N7. He is exactly the player they need, a dribbler with creative spark who can break down the most stubborn defences; they are the club he most desires, able to fulfil his ambition to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League, and the one club who can soothe the scars of his youth.

“I was 13 [when Arsenal released me],” Eze told The Independent in 2020, then a young breakout star at QPR. “I remember crying in my room for a solid week, my mum telling me that it’s going to be OK but not being able to get over it. Then I went to Fulham and I was finally starting to enjoy my football again. We played Arsenal a few months later but, when I went over to shake the academy manager’s hand, I started welling up. All the feelings came back.”

Eze came close to signing for Tottenham this week but if he was ever to leave Selhurst Park, Arsenal always felt like the rightful home for his peak years. Yet there remains a question about his place under Mikel Arteta and exactly where he fits in to the team. Tottenham would have built the side around Eze’s creativity in the No 10 role, but he will have to carve out his own space in an Arsenal squad brimming with talent.

The Portuguese coach – who signed a new contract in June after guiding Forest to European football for the first time since 1995 – poured fuel on speculation his position was under threat during Friday’s press conference ahead of their 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace.

He admitted that his relationship with Marinakis had deteriorated, due in part to the arrival of global head of football Edu Gaspar.

Wolves have rejected a bid of around £50m for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, reports David Ornstein.

The Magpies view the 25-year-old as a potential replacement for Callum Wilson, though Wolves currently maintain that the Norwegian is not for sale.

Reports elsewhere in recent days suggested that Wolves could be tempted by a fee closer to £60m.

Kobbie Mainoo would consider a move away from Manchester United in the final week of the window if the club receive a suitable offer, according to talkSPORT.

Mainoo is yet to feature for United this season and Ruben Amorim said yesterday that he is directly competing with Bruno Fernandes for a place in the side.

Several Premier League clubs are rumoured to be interested in the England international, including Spurs, Chelsea and Brighton.

Manchester United are in talks with Antwerp about a £17.3m move for the Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

Andre Onana is expected to remain at Old Trafford but Ruben Amorim is advancing in his attempts to add more competition for places.

And Lammens, a Belgium Under-21 international, could become United’s fifth summer signing after forwards Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko and wing-back Diego Leon.

Chelsea will press ahead with moves to sign Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons this week if Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Tyrique George all leave, according to Sky Sports.

Multiple clubs are trying to buy Jackson and Nkunku, and take George on loan.

Seventeen players have left Chelsea this summer, bringing in around £270m – but more need to go for Chelsea to carry on securing their top targets.
