You’re fighting an Everdark in Elden Ring: Nightreign. Your teammate goes down. The other one goes over to help them; lo and behold, both your teammates are now down. It’s just you and two crawling blockheads at your feet. What do you do?
Maybe you run away for a bit, or pop your ultimate to proc some major damage. Most of us will probably do our best to beat our trio alive. But more often than not, two downed teammates are the start of a failed run, and that’s especially true if anyone’s been unlucky enough to get knocked out more than once. If you’re playing a class like Duchess and only packing, say, daggers? Forget about it.
It doesn’t have to be this way, Nightfarers. Not if you make sure to stop by a poison camp before the third night of your expedition, at least. As hardcore fans have been reminding each other recently, poison pots are actually quietly one of the best items in the game next to resistance boluses. You see, when you throw a poison pot, it does gradual damage over time. One pot is enough to pull someone back up if they’re at one bar, but that’s not all! Since poison keeps bubbling in the air for a while, that means that other teammates also have time to make their way toward the smoke. In a perfect world, your mates are already lying in wait in the same area, but realistically, things don’t always work out so neatly. Poison pots don’t require precise timing, fortunately. The important bit here is that you don’t have to actively be hitting or even near your dying team to revive them with a poison pot, which means you can focus on staying alive or trying pinching the Night Lord’s remaining health bar.
Alternatively, you can use poison pots in conjunction with normal attacks to revive someone quicker than you could normally, which is just as useful. Whatever the case, stop by a poison camp if you can and pick those bombs up. Maybe consider purchasing a backpack expansion from the shop so you have room for all the consumables you need, since we all know you’re probably already losing a slot to an Evergaol Stonesword key. Maybe pull out your fire weapons to depose the annoying Miranda Sprouts surrounding the area. But mark my words, poison pots are about to become the new meta in Nightreign now that people are realizing how amazing they actually are.
“I thought there was some crazy guy who kept trying to go to the poison ruins while ignoring the pin this whole time,” reads one viral social media post from a player who was revived using a poison pot, much to their surprise.
“Sorry! You were a genius! I never thought the poison pot had such a use,” they added.
“Thats actually Giga brain,” one commenter replied.
“I dunno why people ignore those items so badly,” another remarked. “Those pots, even the greases and throwing knives are very reliable in a pinch or to stack damage greatly.”
Since people are only now starting to realize how useful these items are, there’s not a ton of information on best practices. For example, would the talisman that improves pot usage make enough of a difference to bring someone back from three bars rather than just two? But one thing is certain, even if we’re not talking about poison pots specifically, and it’s this: pots are in Nightreign for a reason. With the right elemental pot, you can stagger enemies or create devastating combos, like with Duchess’ restage ability. So start using pots in Nightreign!
