Getting through The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong may feel like an impossible task. Every time you enter a new area, it looks suspiciously like the previous ones, keeping you trapped in a never-ending loop.
The dreaded misty region is found in the northwestern part of Sinner’s Road, as shown on our interactive Silksong map. If you got stuck in this eerie place, here’s how to get through The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
How to enter The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Before you attempt to clear The Mist, beware that you’ll need the Cling Grip (wall jump) ability to reach The Mist, and the Needolin ability to escape it.
Silksong’s Mist area is a unique place within the larger Sinner’s Road region. Although it seems possible to reach it from the direction of Bilewater, the most common way to get there is to leave Greymoor through the northeast exit above Halfway Home.
Follow the Sinner’s Road to the east until you reach a large vertical chamber with a bench marker. Leave through the opening in the ceiling and turn left. At the end of the path, destroy the breakable wall in the top left corner of the room and continue to enter The Mist.
Halfway through this journey, in the vertical chamber, you might want to take the exit to the left to unlock the bench first – it’s broken, but you can fix it by doing a short parkour run, starting in the upper left behind a breakable wall.

It’s no use running from chamber to chamber in this misty realm, as you’ll just enter the same kind of randomized room again. This also means that the layout is a bit different for each player.
To find your way through The Mist, you must play the Needolin next to the little white wisps.
After you’ve played for a few seconds, the wisps will fly away; follow them to get closer to the exit. You need to repeat this step several times, passing through four chambers before the wisps lead you out of The Mist.
Finding the wisps isn’t the hardest part, as there are several in each chamber, but there are three important dangers to watch out for:
- Wraiths — They will screech and try to grab you when you get close. Their range of observation is quite limited, so you may be able to avoid most Wraiths if you’re careful. If you trigger them, it’s best to wait for them to lunge at you, then pogo over them. However, don’t forget that the Wraith’s do take damage, so you can defeat them like any other enemy.
- Bear traps — Keep an eye on the ground while running through The Mist.
- Falling down —It can be hard to see whether there’s solid ground beneath you, so be careful before descending. If you fall through the bottom of a room, you’ll have to start over from the beginning.
Once you’ve escaped The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you gain access to the Exhaust Organ, where you’ll find the Phantom boss and a shortcut to the Grand Bellway station.
