Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma were at the crease when India completed the 172-run chase, but the pair headed straight to the dugout instead of engaging in the customary post-match greetings. Earlier, at the toss, India captain Suryakumar Yadav had also avoided shaking hands with Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha.
This marked the second such instance in the tournament. In the group stage, after India’s seven-wicket win, Suryakumar and Shivam Dube had similarly walked off without greeting the Pakistani players. In response, Salman had skipped the post-match presentation in protest, though he did attend the ceremony on Sunday.
Following that earlier incident, Pakistan even threatened to boycott its group-stage game against the United Arab Emirates and demanded action against match referee Andy Pycroft. The side eventually took the field after the ICC official issued an apology.
