In IPL 2025, RCB found the winning combination, but there were a few players, who could not perform to their best.
Even though RCB won their maiden title in 2025, there is a lot going on behind-the-scenes. After the unfortunate stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium, there are all sorts of rumours surrounding the team. The players have felt the pinch too. Now, it will be interesting to see, which way the team heads, with the new season only a few months away.
InsideSport takes a look at the players that RCB could release before the IPL 2026 season.
Liam Livingstone could be on his way out
He could be an asset to the team, but somehow just doesn’t seem to do enough with the bat, or with the ball. He scored 112 runs only in 10 matches with only one fifty. That does not justify his price tag of INR 10.75 Cr. He also took two wickets. Instead, the team seems to have unearthed a gem in Tim David, who does the job, lower down the order.
Yash Dayal a surprise removal
15 matches and 13 wickets, that too at an economy rate of 9.59.. that makes life difficult for Yash Dayal. The team has vast fast-bowling resources in Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Josh Hazlewood, and Shepherd can chip in too. So, all looks sorted at the moment. Lungi Ngidi got just two matches. So, they seem to have the balance there.
Suyash Sharma to be ousted?
Even though mystery spinner Suyash Sharma played 14 matches for the team, somehow he wasn’t the most effective. He could pick only 8 wickets, at an economy of close to 9, and his average was 55. Going for runs, and not picking wicket.. that might not be good enough, for him to retain his place in the RCB squad for IPL 2026.
RCB IPL 2025 squad: Rajat Patidar (c), Virat Kohli, Yash Dayal, Josh Hazlewood, Phil Salt, Jitesh Sharma, Liam Livingstone, Rasikh Dar, Suyash Sharma, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Swapnil Singh, Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Nuwan Thushara, Manoj Bhandage, Jacob Bethel, Devdutt Padikkal, Swastik Chhikara, Lungi Ngidi, Abhinandan Singh, Mohit Rathee.
