What to expect from The Outer Worlds 2
Keeping the Obsidian spirit alive, The Outer Worlds 2 is bringing an immersive RPG experience along with acid social commentaries — and some fun guns! Instead of being someone just learning what is happening in the universe, this time your character is an Earth Directorate, who is investigating what happened to Arcadia, one of Earth’s colonies.
The situation is full of tension as the megacorporation Auntie’s Choice invades Arcadia to take control of the colony out of the Protectorate’s hands. While the latter is a violent government ready to kill to maintain order, the former advocates for freedom — through capitalism, of course.
It’s your mission as an Earth Directorate agent to figure out what is happening, and to do so, you will rely on whatever help you can get along the way. In The Outer Worlds 2, you can recruit characters to your party, each of them with distinct skills and unique stories. Their special abilities allow them to play important roles in fights by either calling enemies’ attention or healing you.
Again, Obsidian develops an RPG where the different paths available make every playthrough a singular experience. You can explore different approaches when trying to reach a goal — from stealthing around to opening doors with your bullets — and dialogue comes with enough options for you to represent your character’s personality. It’s up to you whether you’re chasing the perfect build or a roleplay-centered playthrough, since the game allows both ways.
