Thiruvananthapuram: State Election Commissioner A Shajahan said there is an opportunity to add names to the voters’ list for the local body elections in the state, excluding Mattannur, on Nov 4 and 5. This chance is for eligible individuals who were not included in the final voter list published on Oct 25.Applications can be submitted on Nov 4 and 5 to remove ineligible names, amend existing entries, or change addresses. Non-resident Indians can also apply to be included in the list. Electoral registration officers will take further steps and publish supplementary lists on Nov 14. Copies of these lists will be provided free of charge to recognized political parties. This opportunity is provided under sections 23 and 24 of the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act of 1994 and sections 79 and 80 of the Kerala Municipality Act.Individuals who turn 18 on or before Jan 1, 2025, can register on the voter list. To add a new name (Form 4), correct details (Form 6), change address (Form 7), or register as a non-resident voter (Form 4A), applications must be submitted online via the state Election Commission’s website. Upon applying online, a computer-generated notice for a hearing will be received. Applicants must appear in person with the necessary documents on the date specified in the notice. Applications can also be submitted for name removal (Forms 5, 8).
