Tata Consumer Products Ltd. on Monday reported strong second-quarter numbers, driven by its fast-growing portfolio of new-age food brands. The company’s ‘Growth’ businesses — Tata Sampann, Tata Soulfull, Capital Foods, and Organic India — grew 27% in the September quarter and now contribute 32% of its India revenue.

Tata Sampann led the charge with a 40% jump in sales, fuelled by demand for its packaged staples, spices, and ready-to-cook mixes. Soulfull continued to expand its millet-based breakfast and snacking range, while Capital Foods (maker of Ching’s Secret and Smith & Jones) and Organic India held steady despite short-term challenges from the GST transition.

Overall revenue from operations rose 18% year-on-year to ₹4,966 crore. Consolidated EBITDA grew 7% to ₹675 crore, while group net profit was up 11% at ₹407 crore. The company said its international and non-branded businesses also performed well, with 9% and 26% growth in constant currency terms.
The Ready-to-Drink (RTD) beverages business grew 25% despite unseasonal rains and tough competition. “This was the second consecutive quarter of double-digit growth in the India core business across both tea and salt,” said Sunil D’Souza, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Consumer Products. He added that the company launched 25 new products during the quarter, focusing on health, convenience, and premiumisation.

The international business, led by the US market, also posted strong growth, while Tata Starbucks continued its expansion across metros and smaller cities, taking its total store count to 492 across 80 locations.
