Last week, I launched into an Arc Raiders raid on Dam Battlegrounds, with a Dam Surveillance Key in my safe pocket. I had one goal: get to that locked room, loot up, and get out safely. I headed to the Water Treatment Control building, dodging Hornets, Wasps, and even a Rocketeer along the way.
Once I got there, I realized I had no idea where the locked room was. I methodically combed the building, looting every container I could find in search of precious loot, finding little more than metal scraps and batteries, with no sign of the door.
I was crowbar deep, breaching a metal box when I heard you on proximity chat behind me:
“Hey man, you friendly?”
I was, of course, as playing Arc Raiders as a friendly solo is great fun, so I quickly held down my push-to-talk key and replied:
“Hey, yeah I am. Just looting up and looking for the locked door in this building as I have the key. Do you know where it is?”
“I do, follow me,” came the reply. I looted the container I was rummaging around in, holstered my crowbar, then let you lead me round the corner. As promised, there was the locked door.
“You go in and loot up, I’ll take whatever you don’t need.”
You were so friendly. You had a number of opportunities to shoot me and leave me for dust — maybe you were out of ammo so couldn’t risk the hostility — but I returned your friendliness and appreciated your willingness to let me loot the place first. I scrounged for everything I could carry of any value, making sure to leave behind some semi-decent loot for you, then I left the room. I bid you farewell and headed for an extraction point, hoping you might catch up and we could extract together.
I should’ve waited for you to ensure your safety — we could’ve taken on the world together — but for some reason, I was in a rush to get out. I don’t know why, but my friend, thank you for your kindness. If you read this, let me know if you want to run some raids together.
