It’s a kaiju vs. mushroom rumble for the ages
The free games on the Epic Games Store get turn-based and tactical this week. Epic users can pick up a Godzilla title alongside a poker-inspired roguelike.
Godzilla Voxel Wars pits the kaiju against a Fungoid mushroom invasion. Battles take place over 8×8 grids full of skyscrapers and mountains as Godzilla repels the mushrooms in turn-based, strategic battles. Other beloved kaiju, like Mothra and King Ghidorah, can also join the fray. Once a stage surface is cleared, the underside version unlocks, offering up difficult challenges. You can also craft your own levels, which can be shared with other players.
Zoeti is the other free game on offer this week. It combines roguelike runs with turn-based combat. You’ll use a deck of classic playing cards to formulate combos and utilize your characters’ abilities. Those abilities are associated with poker hands, and the more complex they are, like a full house or royal flush, the better your abilities will be. According to its official game description, every run will keep you on your toes: Zoeti has “three different game modes playable with three different characters at five different difficulties featuring dozens of different builds and hundreds of different enemies.”
