The “Blind to the World” quest in Where Winds Meet is one of the first Qinghe regional side quests in the game. You can pick it up as soon as you reach the Crimson Cliff — but although it’s fairly easy to miss, that’s still the easy part. Involving two tricky puzzles and a mysterious riddle, “Blind to the World” is a test of wit rather than a test of strength.
If you need some help (especially with the confusing bell puzzle), here’s how to complete “Blind to the World” in Where Winds Meet.
How to start the ‘Blind to the World’ quest in Where Winds Meet
The “Blind to the World” quest starts in the southern part of Qinghe, in an area called Crimson Cliff. There, speak with Unfated Tian, a.k.a. Uncle Tian, who’s standing near the large red tree, overlooking the lake from the northeast.
After a brief conversation, jump into the lake and press Alt on your keyboard or the Square/X button on controller to dive underwater. Directly below you, interact with the stone circle, then pull the three surrounding levers as instructed. Be careful not to run out of oxygen! Swim up to get some air if needed.
Have another chat with Uncle Tian, then follow him down to the large statue in the middle of the drained lake. Next, you must “study the blind girl statue” and solve the lake puzzle.
How to solve the lake puzzle in Where Winds Meet
First, step on the large round pressure plate next to Uncle Tian (see picture below, left side). This will activate four smaller pressure plates around the blind girl’s statue.
Now you must press the four small pressure plates in the correct order. Uncle Tian will give you a hint if you ask him; he thinks the pressure plates stand for the north, east, south, and west. To solve the puzzle, step on the plate in the north first, just behind the statue’s outstretched arm (see picture above, right side). This is the only pressure plate with a clear, reddish symbol.
From there, step on each remaining pressure plate in a clockwise rotation. Doing so will complete the “Blind to the World” lake puzzle and open a cave passage.
Pass the broken bridge in Where Winds Meet
Descend into the cave, but don’t touch the black shawls, as they’ll set you on fire. Best to repay them in kind by shooting them with burning arrows before passing through.
When you reach the broken bridge, do not jump down, but enter the cave entrance to the right instead. Don’t worry about the sparkly blue flowers; the screen will turn dark if you touch them, but the effect wears off in seconds.
When you hit a dead end, dive down and follow the waterway. The tunnel will lead you to the other side of the broken bridge, where you must speak with Uncle Tian again and open a locked door.
How to solve the bell puzzle in Where Winds Meet
To open the locked door in Where Winds Meet, you must solve the bell puzzle. First, walk upstairs to the small stone pillar. See the red-glowing pressure plates above the four bells? You must hit them with arrows in the correct order to complete the puzzle.
Here’s where things get weird: Although the bells will ring in a certain order upon using the stone pillar, this isn’t the puzzle solution yet. Instead, touch the blue flowers first, so the screen gets dark, and then activate the stone pillar. The bells will now ring in a different order — this is the order you must copy.
So, to solve the bell puzzle in “Blind to the World,” hit the bells in this order: Second from the right, right, left, second from the left.
Find what the Lunar Goddess wants in Where Winds Meet
Following the bell puzzle, go through the door and bring Uncle Tian the box with the eyes. As it turns out, the deceased Luna Goddess doesn’t care for eyes, so your next task in “Blind to the World” is to figure out what she really wants.
Go downstairs to find a small encampment. Feel free to grab the rest of the loot as well, but to complete the “Blind to the World” quest, the item you must bring to the Lunar Goddess is the sparkly blue moonlit flower on the right side of the camp.
You can also bring her the small blade lying on the stone table, but just like the eyes, this won’t be the item she seeks.
After a brief cutscene, the “Blind to the World” quest in Where Wind Meet is completed. You’ll receive a Blinding Mist scroll, a Dusty Wedding Dress (armor), medicinal tales, eight pieces of ebon iron, four pieces of oscillating jade, and a selection of other crafting items and valuta as a quest reward.
