I consider myself to be relatively good at videogames, especially MOBAs. After seven years of playing League of Legends you’d hope I was a pretty decent support, and that said skills would translate across to Valve’s Deadlock. Having picked it up for the first time in months just a few weeks ago, I can confirm the aforementioned LoL experience has not carried across, which left my KDA in a pretty awkward place. If only I’d had LoveLock, a new Deadlock mod. Maybe then I would have been enjoying myself.
What exactly is LoveLock, then? Created by ‘asteriaOW,’ it’s a brand new Deadlock addon that syncs your “deaths, kills, assists, ability uses, and cooldown readiness in Deadlock to a Lovense toy over the local Standard API.” If you’re not aware what a Lovense is, it’s a remote-controlled sex toy brand that utilizes Bluetooth to erm, induce vibrations. Don’t think I need to say much else there.
You can alter the strength and duration of said vibrations, and customize them dependant on what you score in Deadlock. In the example given, deaths have a strength of eight and duration of five seconds (with a maximum strength of 20 and length of 30s), while assists have a strength of 20 but duration of one. Guess it’s a good day to be a supportive character, then.
You’ll need to have the Lovense app downloaded on the same PC you’re playing on, and the Lovelock mod will be available via GameBanana. Aesteria notes that it’s “still in development,” with the GameBanana link currently showing that the mod has been “trashed.” You can check out the provisional installation details here.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen… interesting, vibrating mods for videogames. Retro shooter Ultrakill has its own ‘UKButt’ mod (don’t think I need to explain what’s going where), and there are similar addons for Overwatch 2 and Counter-Strike. That first one feels relatively obvious, now that I think about it.
I can’t say I’ve ever considered the videogame vibrator mod market in depth, but given that I’m looking at a GitHub list entitled “awesome butt plug projects,” it’s clearly an active part of the community. You’re welcome, by the way.
I also respect that, in the case of LoveLock, you don’t actually need to be good at the game – it’s not all about just getting kills. Sure, that could promote some intentional feeding, as well as some random ability button pressing, but I respect the mod’s accessibility, shall we say. I’d normally round off an article like this by saying ‘go have fun,’ but I’m slightly nervous to do that. So instead, keep the change (or in this case, mods), you filthy animals.
