When you’re against such fearsome foes, you’d be forgiven for taking any possible shortcut to gain an advantage. The Blood of Dawnwalker pits you against four of the worst enemies imaginable, and at one point in the story, you have the option to utilize poison to tip the balance in your favor – but at what cost?
There are plenty of things you can do in The Blood of Dawnwalker to gain power, like unlocking the Mandrake Ward perk and the Font of Life perk, but you still have to rely on your combat prowess. The Bittersweet Toast mission gives you an extra angle to your next fight, but it comes with a high cost.

The Bittersweet Toast choice
In The Bittersweet Toast mission, you’re told by a man named Iulian that he knows of a way to weaken Ambrus: he can poison the Vrakhir. This all sounds well and good, but if you follow through on his plan, Iulian will also meet a grizzly death, and he wants to use himself as the vessel for the poison.
The choice here is more moral than anything else. Iulian knows what he’s getting himself into, and accepts it to a point, but whether you think sacrificing him for an easier fight down the road is ultimately up to you.
If you go ahead with the plan and poison Ambrus, his health will tick down during the boss fight, dealing significant damage over time should the battle go on long enough. If you’re playing on harder difficulties, this could be the difference between victory and defeat.
Once you beat Ambrus, you have another choice to make, so make sure you check out our invite in guide here to be prepared before you’re put on the spot. If you want something a little less grim, we have a Dawnwalker romance guide here for you.
