In the beginning, The Blood of Dawnwalker appears to be relatively calm and peaceful, if we don’t add those strange dreams into the equation, anyway. One of the first things Coen has to do is fetch some stronger medication for his mother from the local herbalist, Anca. She gives you the herbs and some strict instructions on how to brew them.
There’s a mass on the horizon, and everyone needs to be in tip-top shape; the Vrakhiri do not allow weakness in their flock. Your mother isn’t in a good spot, so getting this recipe right is extremely important. Here’s a refresher on Anca’s recipe in The Blood of Dawnwalker and what can go wrong if you don’t follow it correctly.

How many spoonfuls of herbs are in Anca’s recipe?
When Anca gives you the herbs, she also relays some brewing instructions that must be followed to the letter. You must use:
- Three spoonfuls of herbs
- Hot water
You can check the recipe beforehand, as it’s on a piece of paper in your inventory, but once you start the brewing process, you’re locked in.
What happens if you get the recipe wrong?
Spoilers ahead, be warned: If you don’t get the recipe right, your mother won’t be well enough for the mass. Brencis will detect this and claim that her blood is too weak and that she needs to be culled; he will then throw her to the other Vrakhiri, who will murder her in front of you and your father.
Let’s just say it’s worth taking the time to get the recipe right. Once the mass is over, that’s when the real game begins – check out our guides on Mandrake Ward and Font of Life for some excellent perks that can help you with the tough road ahead.
