New Wardogs update stamps out exploits, and you could now face a permanent ban

A new Wardogs update is here, and Bulkhead is taking direct aim at “thwarting some of the recent XP and cash exploits” that have popped up since the launch of the multiplayer game. The developer warns that, while it has previously afforded some leniency to players who use these, any such offences now risk permanent bans, and says any prior abuse has been met with full progression resets. The Wardogs 0.1.2 patch notes also include some solutions for security issues and a notable Windows 11 crash error.

The Wardogs team has been targeting some of the most notable ways to exploit particular unintended methods to farm cash or experience. The economy is fundamental to the pace of each season, and while there are plenty of ways to make Wardogs money fast, some of them are distinctly more questionable than others. “To be clear, anyone who has been caught abusing cash and XP exploits, or worse, real-money trading, has had their cash and progression reset and risks being permanently banned,” Bulkhead states.

Among the changes, the checks on revive actions “are now fully server authoritative,” making it harder to abuse across long distances. To prevent vehicle fly-through exploits, rewards have been capped. The payouts for destroying buildables now scale with how complete they are, so you won’t get the full amount for simply getting rid of a placed schematic, and depositing pallets into FOBs outside the hot zone will grant fewer rewards.

With the rollout of these fixes, potential punishments will be even stricter. “We expected Season 1 to have several undisclosed exploits, so up to this point we have been more lenient with first-time offenders,” the developer explains. “That leniency is now over. We have zero tolerance for economy abuse and players now risk being permanently banned without warning if caught abusing repeatable unintended exploits.”

Alongside these changes, Bulkhead has also introduced some gameplay-impacting bug fixes. Throwables such as grenades and C4 can no longer be used from enclosed vehicle seats. The adaptive crosshair will hide as expected when using ADS. Buildable crit spots will no longer appear in the same place consecutively, but should favor “a spot you can reach from where you’re standing.” Finally, the Havoc should no longer erroneously take more damage from 20mm and 30mm cannon fire.

The ‘deploy’ option in the server browser now gives you the choice between ‘official,’ ‘community,’ ‘infantry mode,’ and ‘low-level’ servers. Bulkhead calls this “the first step intended to help signpost players” toward the matches they want. Using the ‘anonymous mode’ setting will no longer show the server name on the loading screen or pause menu. Additionally, the list of official servers now has advanced filters once more.

Server admins now have some additional options, including the ability to set a daily scheduled restart time, and improvements to the RCON panel used by server admins to monitor and control the lobby. Bulkhead also confirms it has resolved the Wardogs WD-L020 crashes that some players have been experiencing since the latest Windows 11 update.

Wardogs update 0.1.2 is live now. As part of the rollout, expect server downtime from 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am BST / 11am CEST on Wednesday September 30, lasting about one hour. Bulkhead also teases that it’ll be sharing more details on Wardogs Season 2 next week, which will include “new map conditions, equipment, balance reworks, and additional features.”
