A new No Man’s Sky update is here, and the space game is now bigger than ever. It’s Halloween season, and Hello Games wouldn’t let that pass without a chance to throw some horror-themed additions into the fray. Hot off the heels of its recent ten-year anniversary, the Forsaken update takes us into the most sinister corners of the universe. Alongside that, the developer has managed to find even more quality-of-life improvements to add, and brought its ever-expanding sandbox to iOS devices for the first time.

The No Man’s Sky Forsaken update sends us on the search for “rare haunted tech” and “biological horrors,” which you’ll need to delve into the “darker side of the universe” to uncover. That means scouring through derelict hulks, abandoned freighters, planetary dig sites, and infested outposts to find suspicious mementos that are highly prized by certain enigmatic individuals.

Get your hands on some valuable salvage or desirable biological specimens and you’ll be able to trade it with these collectors. They’ve got a range of new biomechanical Corvette modules up for grabs, including some “beautiful and strange” exteriors designed to let you “lean fully into the creepy and organic side of sleek sci-fi ships.”

There’s a selection of new Corvette cockpits, too, as well as a fresh interior “inspired by a distant galaxy.” Also up for trade are more weapon variants and space suit styles. Naturally, you can expect some seasonably gruesome inclusions here; Hello Games teases a grisly Larva Tank helmet, and a writhing Grub Cannon multi-tool.

The Forsaken update also continues to introduce more improvements across the sandbox game. This includes the ability to seamlessly warp to nearby stars without having to visit the galactic map, and to share your star bases online. You can become an intergalactic postman with package hauling, and there’s a space-based overhaul for the creature-battling Holo Arena.

Rounding things out are some more quality-of-life features, including a ‘Minimal HUD’ mode to keep your screen clear of distractions, a new radial weapon-select menu, and improved deep-space guidance. Rounding things out is the new iOS version, playable on iPhone 11 and third-gen iPad Air onwards. It’s just 4GB to download and supports full touch controls, and you can try the opening for free if you want to experience the galaxy on the go.

The No Man’s Sky Forsaken update is live now, Wednesday October 28. We might be over ten years deep at this point, but it’s clear that Hello Games still has plenty of ideas for the future, even as it works on its next game, Light No Fire.
