Ahead of GTA 6’s launch, there’s been time for one more big game launch in 2026. S-Game, the developer and publisher of Phantom Blade Zero, has announced that its new action-RPG has sold more than four million copies in just 72 hours since the game’s launch.

In a post on social media, S-Game wrote: “Phantom Blade Zero has sold over 4 million copies in just 72 hours! Thank you everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the love and support!”

Phantom Blade Zero has been hugely popular on Steam, too. On Sunday, November 1, just three days after launch, the game hit its current all-time peak conncurrent player count on Valve’s platform. It hit a peak of 833,921 concurrent players, and has been maintaining 400k players even at quiet times of the day. It is currently third in the most-played charts, behind just Counter-Strike 2 and DOTA 2.

Interestingly, that peak player count is 10 times the peak of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which is another 2026 release in the action RPG genre. That shows how impressive S-Game’s debut AAA game is.

In my review, I wrote: “Phantom Blade Zero is a stunning action RPG that gives the best of all time a run for their money. Phenomenal combat, a beautiful world, and a confidently original story wrapped up in a package that’s an intricately designed Metroidvania at heart. It’s a special game.” It’s undoubtedly going to be in the Game of the Year conversations, and it seems like a lot of players around the world are enjoying it, too.

We’ll have to see how well Phantom Blade Zero maintains its player numbers over the coming days and weeks. There are loads of Phantom Blade Zero bosses to fight across the regions of its open world, and the game isn’t easy, so it’s not one you’ll be beating in just a few hours.
