A new budget AMD Radeon gaming GPU looks like it could be on the way soon, after appearing in the supported hardware list for AIDA64, a PC diagnostics and benchmarking software package. The latest beta version of the software has just been made available for download, and it includes support for the AMD Radeon RX 7300, a GPU that hasn’t been officially announced anywhere yet.
The listing also says that this GPU will be based on the AMD Navi 33 chip, which is used in the Radeon RX 7600. The latter is currently the best graphics card you can buy on a tight budget, although its days are very probably numbered with the Nvidia RTX 5060 release date coming in May 2025.
With its 7000-series model number, and Navi 33 chip, the GPU in the listing for AIDA64 beta 7.65.7415 (spotted by Olrak29_ on X) looks set to be based on AMD’s last-gen RDNA 3 GPU architecture, though. This means it’s very unlikely to support AMD’s new FSR 4 upscaling tech, which really impressed me in my Radeon RX 9070 XT review, and it’s also not going to have the vastly improved ray tracing performance of AMD’s new RDNA 4 GPUs.
Also, that 7300 model number is well below the other numbers in the RDNA 3 lineup, which steadily drop from 7900 to 7600 bit by bit. As such, the Radeon RX 7300 is likely to have an extremely cut-down spec compared to the Radeon RX 7600. There have been rumors that an AMD Radeon RX 7500 XT was in the works, with 6GB of VRAM and 1,024 stream processors, but it’s never seen the light of day, and the Radeon RX 7300 specs are likely to be even less powerful.
At a guess, I’d predict that the Radeon RX 7300 has 4GB of GDDR6 VRAM and 12 compute units, giving it 768 stream processors and 12 RT cores, making it less powerful than the integrated GPUs found in the latest AMD Strix Halo CPUs. Even with 1,024 stream processors, it would have severely limited gaming abilities compared to the Radeon RX 7600, making it a GPU for low-end gaming.
This is all speculation, though, and as AMD has made no official announcement about the Radeon RX 7300. If that AIDA64 listing is right, though, there could be a new budget AMD GPU coming, and with such a potentially low spec, it should hopefully be very cheap, possibly enabling you to build a gaming PC on a very tight budget, or at least squeeze a tiny graphics card into a mini gaming PC.
