If you asked my History degree-having, weeby, League of Legends-obsessed self what my perfect game concept would look like, it’s probably not too far off of Amazon Games Montreal’s freshly-announced MOBA, March of Giants. The new studio, helmed by former Rainbow Six Siege creative director Xavier Marquis, is taking the genre’s trappings, splicing it with elements of real-time strategy, and plonking it in an early 20th Century steampunk world. It could not be more me-coded if it tried. It’s also got a closed alpha coming real soon, but only in select regions.
March of Giants is a free-to-play, 4v4 war game that’s looking to go band-for-band with the best MOBAs out there. Set in an alternative early-1900s, the upcoming PC game has you control Goliathan giants with powerful abilities as you look to destroy enemy towers. The kicker? You’re also in charge of thousands of normal-sized soldiers that will carry out your bidding.
“March of Giants represents our vision to bring the epic scale of war to the MOBA genre,” Marquis says. “We wanted to create something that captures the strategic depth of traditional MOBAs while introducing innovative mechanics that let players command massive armies and deploy tactical structures on the battlefield. This has been a passion project for our team for years, and we’re thrilled to finally share it with players.”
March of Giants’ aesthetic, giants, and setting are giving Attack on Titan, sans ODM gear. All we need now is a supersoldier unit that spins around like a Beyblade and peak will have been achieved.
March of Giants will have a closed alpha playtest lasting from Tuesday September 2, 2025, until Wednesday, September 10, 2025. You can request access on Steam here, though you’ll only be able to play if you’re based in the US, Canada, or Mexico. Amazon says more regions and tests are “planned for the future.”
During the alpha, you’ll be able to access a 15 giant-strong roster, “each with unique abilities that reward tactical play.” Only ten of them will initially be available, with the other five unlocking as you progress.
So, if March of Giants looks like a bit of you, get signed up. If you’re outside of the stated regions, take a look at more of the best strategy games and best PC games you can crack on with in the meantime.
