In a video going viral on the internet, Babar can be seen taking a flying catch with his left hand to help Haris Rauf dismiss Sadeera Samarawickrama.

Babar Azam was in action for Pakistan in the first ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (November 11), and in the hard-fought contest that his team won by six runs, he made headlines for his superb fielding. Babar, who could only manage to score a total of 29 runs from 51 balls after the hosts were asked to bat first at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium by Charith Asalanka, completed Sadeera Samarawickrama’s catch of Haris Rauf’s bowling.

In a video going viral on the internet, Babar can be seen flying and completing a catch of Samarawickrama with his left hand.

Here’s a look:

Samarawickrama came out to bat at No. 4 for the Sri Lankan team in the 300-run chase on Tuesday, and he scored 39 runs from 48 balls during his stay at the crease. He added 57 runs for the fourth wicket with Charith Asalanka, who made 32 runs from 49 balls.

For Pakistan, pacer Rauf dismissed four Sri Lankan batters for 61 runs in his quota of 10 overs, and two opposition batters each were sent back to the pavilion by Naseem Shah and Faheem Ashraf.

As for Sri Lanka, all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga top-scored by hammering 59 runs from 52 balls as a No. 8 batter.

Earlier in the first half of the match, Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha remained unbeaten on 105 runs from 87 balls. During his stay at the crease, he hammered nine fours and added 138 runs for the fifth wicket with Hussain Talat (62 runs from 63 balls) and an unbeaten 66 runs for the sixth wicket with Mohammad Nawaz, who remained unbeaten on 36 runs from 23 balls.

2nd ODI on November 13

The second ODI of the ongoing bilateral series will be played at the same venue on Thursday (November 15), and the third 50-over match is scheduled for Saturday, November 17. Following the conclusion of 50-over matches, Sri Lanka and Pakistan will participate in a T20I tri-series, the matches of which will be played in Lahore and Rawalpindi.
