US stocks today: Beyond Meat shares jumped more than 110% during Wednesday’s Wall Street session as retail investors fueled the meme stock’s demand.
Meme stock is a company stock which attracts sudden popularity amongst the people through the social media platforms. Investors either add to the rally of the shares by buying or add to the share price fall by selling their holdings in the company.
According to a Reuters report, Beyond Meat has been struggling with weak sales as the demand for the company’s plant-based meat patties dropped in the last four years. The company has cut their job roles as a measure to manage its debt pile.
The news agency, citing analytics firm Ortex, said that Beyond Meat shares are one of the most shorted stocks in the US stock market, with short interest at about 81.8% of its free-floating shares. The short interest in the stock increased to those levels compared to 64% last week.
“BYND now has hundreds of mentions across retail channels. Whether this goes to infinity and BYND or just serves up another slice of fake-meat humble pie, retail is clearly having meme-fun again,” Ivan Cosovic, managing director of a data group named Breakout Point, told the news agency.
Beyond Meat share price trend
Beyond Meat shares jumped more than 110% to hit an intraday high of $7.61 during the trading session on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, compared to the previous market close at $3.62, according to Marketwatch data.
The shares of the company are trading 70.75% higher at $6.16 as of 11:16 a.m. (EDT), compared to the previous trading close.
The company’s shares have lost more than 86% in the last five years and are down over 5% in the last one-year period, according to the data collected from Trendlyne.
Beyond Meat shares have given US stock market investors more than 44.39% in the last three months, and the shares have risen 109.19% in the last one-month period. The company’s shares are trading more than 658% higher in the last five market sessions on Wall Street.
Beyond Meat stock hit its 52-week high level at $7.69 on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, while the 52-week low level was at $0.5001, according to Marketwatch data. The company’s market capitalisation (M-Cap) was at $277.84 million as of the trading session on Wednesday, 22 October 2025.
