Chennai Weather: Parts of Chennai are witnessing showers on Saturday morning, which are going to intensify later in the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for more rainfall in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, till September 17. As of now, there is no warning for Sunday, 18 September. Due to heavy rain in the past few days, residents witnessed waterlogging, especially those living in low-lying localities were troubled by rainwater gushing into their homes. This also slowed down the traffic movement, leading to traffic jams on key routes.
A solo weather forecast on X, formerly Twitter, said, “Chennai Weather Update (13th Sep, 10.45pm): Light/drizzle rains expected in Chennai during morning hours due to stratiform clouds forming over Chennai from main thunderstorm clouds over Bay of Bengal. By evening/night fresh thunderstorm expected to form over inland & give rains.”
“AFFECTED AREA: FROM CHENNAI TO THANJAVUR COASTAL MOSTLY SYSTEM TO CROSS NTN FROM CHENNAI TO DELTA COASTALS. STRONG SYSTEMS: EXCESSIVE RAINS IN SHORT TIME. NTN TO GET MORE AFFECTED. MORE UPDATE WILL BE GIVEN SOON #CHENNAIRAINS,” said another.
