Chhal Kapat – The Deception: Plot

All the friends, including Alisha, Mehak, and others, get panicked and worried after seeing Shalu’s dead body. Without wasting any time, Devika begins the investigation and senses that it was not a suicide but a murder.
SP Devika discovers some of the hidden secrets about the victim as well as the nine suspects present at the wedding venue. Will she be able to find the real culprit behind Shalu’s murder, or will she fall into the trap of deception? That’s what you will see in Chhal Kapat – The Deception.
Chhal Kapat – The Deception: Direction, Story And Screenplay
Directed by Ajay Bhuyan, Chhal Kapat struggles to keep the viewers hooked due to its poor execution. The director failed to create the edge-of-the-seat suspense thriller that OTT audiences are craving. The story written by Prakriti Mukherjee is good, but the screenplay written by Karishmaa Oluchi kills the vibe. The episodes are fast but not engaging.
In fact, some of the subplots remain incomplete by the end of the seven-episode web series. By the end of it, the viewer will think about the other characters and try to know what happened to them in the end. The majority of the questions remain unanswered.
Chhal Kapat – The Deception: Performances
Shriya Pilgaonkar did a decent job in the role of SP Devika Rathod. In some of the scenes, she struggles to maintain her body language as a police officer. Her performance is good, but she was not suitable for the role. Anuj Sachdeva, in the role of Vikram Chandel, tries hard to shine but fails miserably with his poor dialogue delivery.
Pranay Pachauri in the role of Rohan is fairly okay. While watching the show, you will feel that his character will have something interesting to offer, but the poor execution of the show sidelines his character completely after some episodes. Mehak, played by Ragini Dwivedi, did a decent job. The rest of the supporting cast didn’t do well to excel the show in performance departments.
Chhal Kapat – The Deception : BGM, Editing and Cinematography
Soutrik Chakraborty did a fine job with the show’s background music. It creates some interest in the show. On the other hand, Rajkumar Chaturvedi edited the episodes quite well. Ajaya Bahl’s cinematography is strictly okay. He doesn’t get enough scope to play with the frames in this suspense thriller.
Chhal Kapat – The Deception: Final Verdict
Overall, Chhal Kapat – The Deception is a highly forgettable web series. The director failed to create an engaging suspense thriller, while the lead actors, such as Shriya Pilgaonkar, Anuj Sachdeva, and others, couldn’t create an impact with their performances. The background music is good, and the show’s episodes are not that long to make the viewers snatch their hair.
