A colourful procession was taken out in Bagalkot on Monday, as part of Tiranga Yatra celebrations. BJP organised the rally to celebrate the success of Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan.
The procession began from the Bilur Gurubasava Temple on the premises of the BVV Sangha and reached Basaveshwara Circle via the Veterinary Hospital, Tenginamath, Police Chowk, Vallabhbhai Chowk and MG. Road.
Young men and women carried a 300-ft by 100-ft high tricolour flag through the main streets of the city.
Prabhu Swamiji of Charantimath addressed the crowd and said that India has fulfilled its pledge to eradicate terrorism. “Our soldiers carried out Operation Sindoor and precision strikes on terror hideouts. They need to be commended,” he said.
Oppatteshwar Swamiji of Guledagudda Oppatteshwar Mutt said India has sent a message to its enemies that they now cannot forget easily.
“I feel that the soldiers posted on the border are important. Everyone should have respect for our soldiers,” he said.
Ex-servicemen, lawyers, Rotary Club members, Akkana Balaga members and students took part in the procession. They raised slogans like “Bolo Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan”.
MP P.C. Gaddigoudar, Rajya Sabha member Narayanasa Bhandage, the former MLA Veeranna Charantimath, BJP District president Shantagouda Patil, Nandu Gaikwad and others were present.
