Next week the Lionesses will be heading to Barcelona as they continue their UEFA Nations League campaign and our Free Lionesses team have pulled together a handy guide to the game for those making the trip.

Taking on Spain on Tuesday 3rd June, kick-off is 6pm BST at Espanyol’s RCDE Stadium and will be broadcast live on ITV.

Many thanks to Lucy Mills for her help on the guide.

Getting to RCDE Stadium

RCDE Stadium is located in Cornellà de Llobregat, around 10km southwest of central Barcelona.

Public Transport:

  • Train (Rodalies): Take the R4 or R7 lines from Barcelona Sants to Cornellà station. From there, it’s a 15-minute walk to the stadium.
  • Metro: Take Line L5 (blue line) to Cornellà Centre. Walk time to the stadium is approximately 15 minutes.
  • Tram: Use T1 or T2 to Cornellà Centre, followed by a 15-minute walk to the stadium.
  • Bus: Several lines serve the stadium area, including 67, 68, 94, 95, and 902.

Public transport is frequent, safe, and runs late on matchdays.

Taxis / Rideshares:

  • Taxis are available city-wide, but they can be limited near the stadium post-match
  • Uber and Cabify operate in Barcelona but often surge on game days – expect delays and high demand.

Accessibility:

RCDE is a modern stadium with good accessibility. Fans with mobility needs should arrive early and consult stadium stewards if additional support is needed.

Ticketing

If you have any ticket issues:

  • Digital tickets: Ensure your phone is charged and brightness turned up when scanning
  • Physical tickets: Bring ID to match the ticket name if applicable

If you’ve lost your ticket or have technical issues, head to the stadium’s ticket office (Taquillas) located at the corner of Gol Prat and the Tribuna Presidencial, on the side of the stadium opposite the main road. Bring photo ID and booking reference

For FSA-related queries or urgent problems on the day, a Free Lionesses rep will be present at the ground.

Food and drink

Near the Stadium:

  • El Racó de l’Ibèric – A popular local spot serving quality Iberian tapas and a caña (small beer with outdoor terrace seating)
  • Caña + Tapa is a local eatery in Cornellà de Llobregat, offering an authentic Spanish tapas experience.
  • Restaurant El Brot de l’All i Oli – A highly-rated local favorite offering Mediterranean and Catalan cuisine.

In Central Barcelona:

  • El Nacional (Eixample): Upscale food hall with Catalan, tapas, seafood, and meat sections.
  • Bar Cañete (El Raval): Traditional Spanish food with a buzzing atmosphere.
  • Bodega La Palma (Gothic Quarter): Cozy wine bar for local Catalan bites.
  • Roots and Rolls (Eixample): Top spot for vegan sushi and Asian fusion.

Notes: Drinking alcohol in the street is illegal in Barcelona and fines are common. Stadium beer is often low-alcohol or alcohol-free. Most restaurants close between 4pm–8pm; check hours in advance.

Places to visit

  • Make the most of your trip by seeing a few of these top spots:
  • Sagrada Familia: Gaudí’s iconic basilica (book tickets in advance!)
  • Park Güell: Colourful mosaics and whimsical architecture with stunning city views
  • Barceloneta, Bogatell and Marbella Beaches: 5km seafront with promenade, perfect for a stroll or sunset drink
  • Gracia: Wander through the windy streets and beautiful plazas – Plaza del Sol, Plaza de la Revolución, Plaza de la Virreina for a feel of local neighbourhood life.
  • El Born and Gothic Quarter: Narrow, historic streets filled with tapas bars and shops.
  • Eixample (gay area): Walk along pedestrianised street “Calle Consell de Cent” and stop for an ice-cream or drink at Priscilla’s bar.
