The Gears of War Reloaded system requirements confusingly list nine total GPUs across the minimum and recommended tiers. While there could be an excellent explanation for this, the developer has yet to provide one, instead leaving us with a set of system requirements that are difficult to understand.
One thing we do know from the given specs is that you won’t need the best graphics card to get the best out of Gears of War Reloaded. There is a chance that these specs will change as we move through the beta phases and into the GoW Reloaded release date, but for now, older PC gaming hardware is very much in play.
Here are the Gears of War Reloaded system requirements:
Minimum | Recommended | |
OS | Windows 10 or later | Windows 10 or later |
CPU | Intel Core i5 (Skylake) AMD Ryzen 3 (four-core) |
Intel Core i5 (Coffee Lake) AMD Ryzen 5 (six-core) |
GPU | Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti AMD Radeon RX 480 AMD Radeon RX 5300 Intel Arc A380 |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 AMD Radeon RX 5600 |
VRAM | At least 4GB | At least 6GB |
Storage | 70GB | 70GB |
RAM | 8GB | 16GB |
The first thing that strikes us about the Gears of War Reloaded system requirements is the total of nine GPUs listed across just two tiers. If we had performance targets, or any kind of breakdown to show why so many are listed, it may help digest the information.
Alas, we can only concoct our own theories, such as the RTX 2070 being listed as a GPU for ray tracing; however, no other card listed across all brands supports the technology. There is also a big power gap between the GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2070, even though both are based on the same Turing architecture from that generation. This leaves us wondering why they feature in the same tier.
It could be that the developer is just providing as many examples from multiple generations as possible, to cover all bases. After all, a top GPU from one generation will only match a lower-spec GPU from a later generation. However, without any settings or performance targets being listed, it’s difficult to tell.
Elsewhere, the CPU requirements are listed in fairly unusual terms, too, with Intel CPUs listed by the generational codename and AMD CPUs listed by cores.
The rest of the system requirements, however, are fairly straightforward, with RAM listed as 8GB and 16GB for minimum and recommended, respectively, while you’ll need 70GB of free storage space to download the game, with no sign of a requirement for an SSD.
Naturally, if you’re looking to make some quick upgrades to your gaming PC, moving over to one of the best SSD options for gaming, or the best gaming RAM that is compatible with your PC, are among the easiest and cheapest upgrades you can go for.
If you’re hoping to play Gears of War Reloaded when it’s out, but don’t want to cough up the cash for a digital copy, you can check to see if GoW Reloaded is on Game Pass instead.
