Final Fantasy 14‘s second Monster Hunter collaboration has been added to the game as part of patch 7.35, bringing Guardian Arkveld to the game as a trial. This eight-man fight will have you watching for Arkveld’s attack patterns and chugging potions, but most importantly, you’ll be able to carve a few scales off of the beast once you take it down, allowing you to redeem some swanky rewards for your time.

Below we explain how to unlock “The Windward Wilds” Arkveld trial in FFXIV, along with a list of the rewards you can get from it.

How to unlock the Monster Hunter trial, ‘The Windward Wilds’

In order to qualify for the trial, you’ll need to have one combat job at level 100 and you’ll need to beat the main scenario quest “Dawntrail.” Once you do, you can talk to the Dawn Hunt Tracker NPC in Tuliyollal (13.3, 13.1):

After starting the quest, meeting a felyne, and finding clues about Arkveld, you’ll be able to take on the big beast itself in the trial, as long as your item level is at least 725.

When you finish beating Arkveld down, you can unlock the extreme version of the fight from the Wandering Minstrel in Tuliyollal.

Monster Hunter: Wilds and FFXIV collab rewards

For completing the quest itself, you’ll get the Seikret Horn (to allow you to summon the Seikret mount), the outdoor hunter’s grill housing item, and the hunter’s camp chair housing item.

After beating Guardian Arkveld, you’ll get the usual reward of a handful of tomes, but you’ll also get a Veldian Weapon Coffer, which you can open on whichever job you want to get a Veldian weapon (ilvl 745). Before you leave the trial, make sure to interact with Arkveld’s head, as you’ll get two Guardian Scales for doing so. There’s also a reported chance for the fight to drop the Felyne Support Team Cart mount as well — which can also be sold on the marketboard.

Clearing the extreme version of the fight will also reward you with two Guardian Arkveld Certificates per clear, which you can use to trade for the Felyne Support Team Cart mount (99 certificates) or an augmented version of your Veldian weapon at item level 760 (five certificates). Take your Guardian Arkveld Certificates to the Smithy NPC in Tuliyollal (behind the Dawn Hunt Tracker NPC you accepted the initial quest from) to trade for these goodies or the aforementioned Guardian Scales for a few other rewards:

  • Seikret Fledgling minion (3 Guardian Scales)
  • Vigorwasp minion (3 Guardian Scales)
