LEH, June 20: In the lead-up to International Yoga Day, a mega Yoga Camp was held on the picturesque banks of Pangong Lake, drawing nearly 1,000 participants. Among them were Army and paramilitary personnel, students and local residents.
The event was organised by the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, with support from the Indian Army, the Union Territory Administration of Ladakh, and the Ministry of Ayush. The camp aimed to promote awareness of yoga’s role in maintaining physical and mental well-being.
The Indian Army’s 114 Infantry Brigade played a key role in coordinating arrangements for the lakeside event. Speaking at the event, Bhikkhu Sanghasena, founder-president of MIMC, described Ladakh as a land of peace. He expressed hope that one day, “bunkers built for war may transform into places of meditation and yoga.”
Prominent personalities, including Ladakhi singer and actor Phunsok Ladakhi and television actor Himanshu Soni—famed for portraying Lord Buddha were present. The Brigade Commander of the 114 Infantry Brigade attended as chief guest, while Chushul Councillor Konchok Stanzin was among other notable attendees.
