KATHMANDU, Oct 3 – The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the country on Saturday and Sunday as monsoon winds become more active.

According to the department, heavy rainfall is likely in some hill and Tarai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, with a few places in Lumbini also at risk. Very heavy rainfall is possible in isolated areas of Madhes, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Meteorologists said monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will intensify from Saturday morning. While light to moderate rain is already occurring in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini, widespread heavy showers are expected over the weekend. Weather is forecasted to gradually improve from Monday.

The three-day outlook suggests generally cloudy conditions across the country, with thunderstorms and moderate rain likely in many hill and Tarai areas, and heavy rainfall in some locations through Sunday night.
