New Elden Ring Nightreign patch finally makes solo runs much fairer

Fromsoftware has just dropped the latest Elden Ring Nightreign patch, and it’s making runs easier for solo and co-op players alike. My main issue with Nightreign across the weekend has been in-game balance, so it’s brilliant to see Fromsoftware already take aim at this problem and start to fix it with an update and maintenance. So if you’re hoping for improvements, Elden Ring Nightreign patch 1.01.1 is here to answer the call.

Elden Ring Nightreign is supposed to be difficult solo, but Fromsoftware has definitely taken that a bit too far. Playing on your own is so hard in the soulslike game right now because Fromsoftware hasn’t properly balanced Nightreign around this option, making it an incredibly tough uphill battle to get almost anything done alone.

Luckily, patch 1.01.1 starts to fix this problem. Now, when you play in single-player mode, you’ll notice two adjustments. For starters, the new ‘Automatic Revival Upon Defeat’ mechanic gives you one revival per nightly boss battle when playing solo. This means you can fall against a boss and get right back up, but only once. Considering Nightreign’s bosses are all about teamwork, this is a much-needed way to help solo players actually stand a chance. You’ll also get even more runes during solo expeditions now, which means you can level up faster and get more done during the time limit.

Fromsoftware hasn’t just improved solo play in the patch, however, as some more general balance adjustments are here to help you out. The studio says it has “increased the number of high-rarity Relics that can be obtained as a reward when reaching day three during Expeditions,” giving you even better equipment the further you get. You also have an increased probability of getting high-rarity Relics from Scenic Flatstones from the Small Jar Bazaar, helping you get ready between runs.
