In news that will surely thrill fans of Dragon Ball Z, anime studio Toei Animation has teamed with developer Mojang to bring the iconic franchise to Minecraft. A new Dragon Ball Z DLC bundle has been released, taking players inside the World Martial Arts Tournament for a series of competitions. This is the latest in a long line of Minecraft collabs.
The DLC allows you to step into the shoes of your favorite DBZ characters as you enter the World Martial Arts Tournament, where you’ll battle against other players in 1v1, co-op, or 5v5. It all starts in a Minecraft version of Kami’s Temple, where you can choose from several different Dragon Ball Z characters, including, Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Gohan, Piccolo, Frieza, Bulma, and Trunks.
Each available character has unique maneuvers and fighting abilities. Goku, for example, has his signature Kamehameha that he can unleash in battle. You’ll also see the Galick Gun, Ki Blast, and Ultimate Final Flash adapted into the game for battling purposes.
The battles will be set in different DBZ-themed settings, like Gizard Wasteland, Cell Games, and Planet Namek, all recreated in Minecraft. And if you need a break from the fights, Mojang has looked to the show for inspiration there, too. Head to the Capsule Corporation office for a quick rest.
Outside of the World Martial Arts Tournament portion of the game, the DLC does come with some general Minecraft content. You’ll also get a suite of character skins for use in your personal realms and servers. Among those available currently are Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Bulma, and Frieza. You’ll also get a Scouter headband cosmetic to adorn your characters with.
The Dragon Ball Z DLC is available now on the Bedrock edition of Minecraft for $8.99 (1,510 in-game coins). According to a press release from Toei Animation, the Scouter headband item is available for a limited time only, so if having a goggle over one eye is important to you, don’t get left behind.
