Sony’s PlayStation Store appears to have leaked a new Overwatch 2 collaboration, suggesting that Blizzard’s hero shooter is teaming up with Capcom’s Street Fighter 6. A brief message on the PSN Store indicates that some sort of mid-season event is planned for later this month, and it should include SF6 skins alongside other exclusives. With the OW2 Gundam Wing crossover still ongoing, Blizzard is seemingly putting as many big names into the game’s latest season as possible.
The Overwatch 2 Street Fighter 6 collaboration hasn’t been officially announced yet, but PlayStation has at least confirmed its existence. Going to the PSN Store via the Wayback Machine, and setting the date to Saturday May 3, shows a unique image for the multiplayer game, which in turn gives us some details about the upcoming collab.
“Mid-season magic is alive. Keep battling in Stadium with a Street Fighter 6 collaboration and Dokiwatch Mythic Mercy Weapon Skin,” the text on the image reads (via Resetera).
Season 16 is hitting the halfway point in May, so we should expect an official announcement from Blizzard and Capcom any day now. The character skins haven’t been revealed yet, but I’d personally love to see a Dhalsim makeover for Zenyatta.
The Street Fighter 6 collab is also coming at exactly the right time for Blizzard. Stadium has quickly become the shooter’s most popular game mode, providing a much-needed twist on proceedings. With fewer heroes, round-based upgrades, and a new perspective, players are flooding back to OW2 right as Marvel Rivals provided some real competition.
Blizzard is launching Overwatch 2 Season 16’s midseason update on Tuesday May 20, which is when the Street Fighter 6 collaboration is coming according to the PlayStation Store.
