Prophet’s birthday procession, September 5: Check Delhi traffic routes diversions

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory in view of a religious procession to be held in the Central Range on the occasion of the Holy Prophet’s birthday on September 5, 2025. The gathering is expected to draw 3,000–3,500 participants, with numbers possibly rising to 10,000–12,000. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid certain routes during the event.

PROCESSION ROUTE

The religious procession will pass through the following route

Pahari Dheeraj Bara Tooti Chowk Sadar Bazar Lahori Gate Khari Baoli Road Fatehpuri Masjid Katra Baryan Lal Kuan Hauz Qazi Chawri Bazar.

DIVERSION POINTS

To manage the traffic flow, diversions will be placed at key points:

  • Azad Market Chowk

  • DCM Chowk

  • Sadar Thana Chowk

  • Naya Bazar

TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Traffic restrictions will be enforced, as required, on the following roads:

  • Pahari Dheeraj Road

  • Sadar Road

  • Qutub Road

  • Khari Baoli Road

TRAFFIC AFFECTED ROADS

Several major stretches are likely to experience congestion due to the procession:

  • Rani Jhansi Road

  • Idgah Road

  • Naya Bazar Road

  • SPM Marg

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

  • No parking will be allowed on Bara Hindu Rao, Pahari Dheeraj, Sadar Thana Road, and Qutub Road

  • Commuters are advised to avoid the above-mentioned roads during the event and use alternative routes
