New Delhi: In a thrilling incident, Rishabh Pant had a massive escape which left everyone speechless on the second day of the current first Test between India and England at Headingley. The scene came after Rishabh Pant and Jamie Smith sledged one another in the first session of Day 2.
Having come face to face with Shoaib Bashir, India vice-captain charged down the track to drive big but missed the spinning ball altogether. Pant hit with such force that he lost the grip of the bat, and it sailed all the way towards the short fine leg.

The ball had bounced a little and reached Smith’s chest level, and in the haste of bringing his gloves down swiftly for the stumping, the wicketkeeper did not collect the ball at all.
England let slip the golden chance to eliminate the centurion and aggressive Indian wicket-keeper batter. Pant, nowhere near the crease and without a bat, got off the hook by fortune. Smith’s error facilitated the Indian vice-captain to carry on his unbelievable innings.
