‌India Women, after opting to bat against Sri Lanka Women in the final of the ODI tri-series 2025, got off to an excellent start at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, courtesy of Smriti Mandhana’s stroke-filled 116 off 111 balls. And with the help of enterprising cameos from captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues, the Women in Blue went past the 300-run mark in the 46th over.

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma joined Amanjot Kaur in the 47th over to help the side end their innings on a strong note. The pair had already added 20 runs off 15 balls as the proceeding took a funny turn amidst the death overs drama.

In the fourth ball of the penultimate over, the left-handed batter stepped out to a flighted delivery from spinner Sugandika Kumari to chip the ball towards mid-off. With the ball landing far ahead of the fielder at the boundary, she called for a second run but Amanjot sent her back seeing the Nilakshika Silva sprint in towards the ball.

Nilakshika used all her momentum to heave a wild throw to prevent the second run and Deepti in her rush to get back to the crease found the ball speeding at her. She took evasive action as she threw her bat and moved away from the ball though she was short of her crease.

Twitterati had a ROFL moment and in the end, the Indian all-rounder saved her wicket and herself as the ball was miles away from the stump and gathered by the wicketkeeper.

 What!

Century!
