Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David brought smiles to fans and teammates alike with a light-hearted moment before the resumption of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. Before RCB’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, May 17, David was seen swimming on the ground covers, playfully gliding across the soaked surface at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as the showers poured down.
The unusual sight delighted onlookers and added a touch of humour to the otherwise gloomy weather. Completely drenched, he returned to the dressing room, where his teammates greeted him with laughter, claps, and cheers. The moment quickly went viral, showcasing David’s fun-loving spirit and camaraderie, even in the face of weather disruptions during the IPL.

Since being picked up by RCB for Rs 3 crore in the mega auction that took place last year in Jeddah, the Australian batter has been able to make an impact with the bat in hand. In IPL 2025, he has scored 186 runs in 11 matches at an impressive average of 93 and a blistering strike rate of 193.75.
He put forward his top performance against Punjab Kings (PBKS), where he notched an unbeaten 50 in Bengaluru, although his knock came in a losing cause. Last year, the right-hander made 241 runs for MI at a strike rate of just 130.12, but the five-time champions let him go.
Since making his IPL debut in 2021 for the Mumbai Indians (MI), the 29-year-old David has notched 845 runs at an average of 33.80 and a strike-rate of 174.94.
As far as RCB are concerned, they are placed second in the table with 16 points and a net run rate of +0.482 thanks to wins in eight out of 11 matches. If RCB beat KKR in Bengaluru, they will become the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
