The ex-Evil Exes are coming to beat-’em-up Scott Pilgrim EX as playable characters, developer Tribute Games announced Wednesday. Lucas Lee and Roxie Richter will join Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers as playable characters in next year’s game.
Lucas Lee and Roxie Richter were both bosses in Scott Pilgrim EX‘s predecessor, 2010 game Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game. Lucas is described by Tribute as having “grappling prowess and a fully-weaponized skateboard (meaning he hits people with it).” He can also apparently use his ample charm to stun demons in Scott Pilgrim EX. Roxie brings her sword to the mean streets of Toronto, “dicing into the fray as a quick-hitting, speedy half-ninja, with a kit complete with smoke bombs and moves that turn her into a blender on the battlefield,” the developer says.
Lucas and Roxie were played by Chris Evans and Mae Whitman, respectively, in the live-action Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie and in the animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
A total of seven playable fighters are promised for Scott Pilgrim EX.
Scott Pilgrim EX is set in a not-so-nice version of a “video game-warped” Toronto in which three rival gangs (the Vegans, Robots, and Demons) have taken over the city. Scott, Ramona, her former lovers, and other characters from Bryan Lee O’Malley’s comic book world must clean up the streets and find out who’s behind the madness in the game’s original story.
The game is slated for release in early 2026 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC (via Steam), and Xbox Series X.
