Ahead of the game, the Arsenal boss may have some big decisions to make about his line-up, from replacing injured stars, to utilising his summer signings and even potentially dropping star names.
You can take the role of Arteta here, and give us your thoughts on team selection for the visit of Forest.
Keeper conundrum?
In some quarters, there were suggestions that, as good as Szoboszlai’s free-kick was, goalkeeper David Raya’s positioning could still be questioned.
The goal aside, the Spaniard also had one or two nervy moments with the ball at his feet, putting his defence under needless pressure, and even gifting possession to the opposition on at least one occasion that, thankfully, wasn’t as costly as it may have been.
The Gunners notably signed Raya’s compatriot Kepa Arrizabalaga as backup over the summer so, could it be a chance, in a home game against a team still trying to find their feet this season, for the ex-Chelsea man to make his debut?
Which new boy can replace Saliba?
Arsenal’s setup and plans against Liverpool were thrown into immediate disarray when William Saliba limped off in the opening minutes of the match with an apparent ankle complaint picked up in the warm-up.
Thankfully for Arteta, he was able to call upon summer signing Cristhian Mosquera from the bench, and the Spaniard slotted in almost seamlessly, putting in a disciplined display for an assured Premier League debut.
Saliba is back in training but is very unlikely to be gracing the Emirates pitch against Forest, which means Arteta will likely need to call on one of his two new men to take their place in the left centre-back position next to Gabriel.
Will Mosquera keep his place, or should Hincapie be handed a first start for his new club?
Midfield muddle
One of the questions after the Liverpool game was whether Arsenal set themselves up too conservatively in midfield with the trio of Declan Rice, summer signing Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino starting the game – none of whom were expected to provide the necessary creativity going forward.
Arteta dismissed this suggestion at full-time, claiming his hand was forced by circumstances.
“Well, that’s what we had,” he said. “Martin Odegaard was injured, Kai (Havertz) cannot play. (Mikel) Merino is a player that is incredible at arriving from there.
“After the game, I think it’s too easy to say that [Arsenal were too conservative].”

Odegaard was introduced from the bench late on, as was another new signing, Eberechi Eze, while Ethan Nwaneri, who came on as an early sub for Odegaard against Leeds a week earlier, was also a substitute.
Against Forest, Arsenal will be expected to be more ‘proactive’. Rice and Zubimendi are likely to start, so who is deployed ahead of them is likely to depend on Odegaard’s fitness, meaning we could see Eze start a match in Arsenal colours for the first time.
Left-wing thinking
On the other flank, however, Gabriel Martinelli endured a difficult afternoon against the champions , struggling to trouble makeshift right-back Szoboszlai before being removed in the second half.
The Brazilian is still nominally the first choice in this position, but Arteta may want to explore alternatives – including Madueke if need be – while Martinelli rediscovers his best form.
