Now that Alan Ritchson has wrapped up Reacher Season 3, fans are likely wondering what will happen next with the hit Prime Video series.
Following the big success of the first two seasons of Reacher on the streaming service, Reacher Season 3 premiered on Prime Video on Feb. 20 with three episodes and comes to a conclusion with the release of Episode 8 on Thursday.
Based on Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novel Persuader, Reacher Season 3 is set in Boston. It’s there where the ex-Army Military Police investigator teams with Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Susan Duffy (Sonya Cassidy) to infiltrate what she believes is a drug smuggling operation run by luxury rug importer Zachary Beck (Anthony Michael Hall).
While Duffy has tasked Reacher with finding a missing confidential informant who was working for Beck, Reacher is intent on finding one of Beck’s associates, Xavier Quinn (Brian Tee), who brutally murdered one of the former MP’s fellow Army investigators years before.
The good news for fans is that they won’t have to worry about whether Reacher will be back following the conclusion of Season 3 because Season 4 has already been confirmed. According to Deadline, Prime Video announced in October of 2024 that there would be a Reacher Season 4 from the show’s creator Nick Santora.
“Reacher has become a phenomenon that continues to resonate with our global customers beyond our wildest expectations and we are thrilled to bring the series back for an additional season,“ Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Television Vernon Sanders said in a statement about the renewal (via Deadline).
“We are looking forward to more action and adventure from the immensely talented team behind the series including Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios,” Sanders added.

What Book Will ‘Reacher’ Season 4 Be Based On?
Since Lee Child has written 29 Jack Reacher novels, the creatives behind the Reacher TV franchise have plenty of options in front of them when it comes to the book they want to adapt for Season 4.
Reacher Season 1 was based on Child’s first book in the series, 1997’s Killing Floor, while Season 2 was an adaptation of the author’s 11th book, 2007’s Bad Luck and Trouble. Season 3’s book, Persuader, is Child’s seventh Jack Reacher book, which was released in 2003.
And while the source material for Season 4 remains anybody’s guess, Child said in an interview with Business Insider published Feb. 20 that he’d like to see an adaptation of the 22nd book in his series, which was released in 2017.
“The book that I am proudest of is The Midnight Line, which is about the opioid crisis, written from a very sympathetic point of view, from the addict’s point of view,” Child told Business Insider. “And I do not know how that would play on TV, but that would be one that I’d be interested to see.”
In a Zoom conversation with Alan Ritchson and Maria Sten prior to Season 3, Ritchson said input into which book should be adapted into each season comes from a variety of different perspectives in addition to Nick Santora’s and Child’s.
“We definitely talk about what book to do. There are guys like [producer] Don Granger, who’s who has been a part of this world [a long time],” Ritchson said. “He optioned the rights and started working with Lee early on, so he’s got his favorites and he’s got his the order of things … [Also, Season 3 director] Sam Hill is a monster Reacher fan and has a lot of influence and he’s got books that he’d like to do, and I’ve got mine.”

When Will ‘Reacher’ Season 4 Premiere?
Once the book that will be adapted into Reacher Season 4 is announced, the next big question will be when that season premieres.
Reacher Season 1 premiered on Feb. 4, 2022, while Reacher Season 2 came 22 months later, on Dec. 15, 2023 — a season delayed by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America’s strikes against the studios in mid-to-late 2023.
Considering there was about a 14-month window between the start of Reacher Season 2 and Season 3, it’s conceivable that if the series follows the same production timeline, Reacher Season 4 could arrive sometime between April and May of 2026.
In the meantime, fans may not have to wait that long to see the character of Jack Reacher if he somehow shows up in Neagley, a spinoff series starring Alan Ritchson’s Reacher co-star Maria Sten in the title role. Frances Neagley, a close confidant of the former Army Military Police investigator since the two served togther, plays a key role in all three seasons of Reacher.
Neagley, which Prime Video announced a week before the Reacher Season 4 announcement in October of 2024, is already in production, Variety reported.
During the Zoom conversation with Ritchson and Sten, the duo appeared to like the idea of Ritchson guest-starring on his friend and colleague’s new series.
“That would make sense, but we cannot confirm that it would make sense,” Ritchson playfully said. “It just makes sense in a world of hypotheticals.”
“Yes, we can neither confirm or deny such rumors,” Sten noted.
“Like if he popped in for a couple of episodes,” Ritchson added. “But it could happen.”
“It could happen,” Sten said. “But who knows?”
Like Reacher Season 4, the release date of Neagley has not yet been announced.
