Irondequoit, N.Y. (WHAM) — Xiomara Weeks said she got news Wednesday morning she’s been waiting months for.

“I was driving, and almost didn’t answer the phone. I’m glad I did,” she said. “I received the call saying they caught him with such excitement.”

Authorities said Luis Francisco Soriano, 31, was captured in the Dominican Republic, accused of murder for the killing of Fraime Ubaldo, 30, Marangely Moreno Santiago, 26, and their two young children, Evangeline Ubaldo Moreno, 4, and Sebastian Ubaldo Moreno, 2, Aug. 31 on Knapp Avenue.

“I already know what the person was talking about at the moment,” Weeks said. “I had so many mixed emotions.”

Soriano and his older brother, Julio Pimentel-Soriano, are charged with murder, burglary, kidnapping and arson. Pimentel-Soriano was arrested Sept. 7, one week after the killings. He has pleaded not guilty.

“August 31st, I was texting Marangely around noon,” Weeks said. “Her texts were going through green, which was so weird to me. Her phone was never off. I was driving and my husband was on his break and started reading out loud, ‘329 Knapp Avenue,’ that reads the headline, and at that moment, I was in disbelief.”

Firefighters found the victims’ bodies while putting out the multiple fires in their home on Knapp Avenue that morning. Police said it was quickly apparent they had been killed by something other than the fire.

“How do I explain to a 3-year-old that her Nina that so much she loves so much is gone?” Weeks said. “That her godsister, her godbrother and her godfathers are all gone.”

Ubaldo’s family shared a statement with 13WHAM.

We are so grateful that the police did not let us down. Grateful for all of the hard work, dedication, and support they have provided us. Mostly with the justice and joy they’ve brought to us! Felt desperate for a while and this was such a relief on all of our hearts.

Weeks said she’s created a memorial inside her home for the four victims.

“Anyone who comes into my home has to pay their respect,” she said. “They were and will always be a part of our family.”
