Star India batter Sarfaraz Khan has followed up his hundred in Mumbai’s local Kanga League with another century in the ongoing Buchi Babu tournament, playing a brilliant 111-run knock against Haryana in his second appearance in the invitational event this season.
Overlooked for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England, Sarfaraz appears determined to reclaim his spot in the playing XI.
Sarfaraz brought up his hundred in the final session of Day 1 of the contest between Haryana and Mumbai. He took just 99 deliveries to bring up the feat.
Upon reaching the milestone, Sarfaraz removed his helmet, soaking in the applause from Shams Mulani and the rest of the Mumbai camp.
Sarfaraz had begun the domestic season in style, smashing a hundred in the Buchi Babu opener against TNCA XI.
In both of his hundreds, Sarfaraz has been at his aggressive best, playing his shots from ball No. 1, not letting the opposition bowlers dictate terms and bowl as per their plans.
In his innings against Haryana, Sarfaraz was being bogged down by cramps.
Both Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan couldn’t grab their chances in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. There is an opening for the No. 3 slot and one in the lower-middle order.
Sarfaraz was a part of India’s Test team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where the team lost 1-3.
In 2024, Sarfaraz smashed 150 runs in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test against New Zealand. He was a part of India A’s team for the unofficial Tests against the England Lions.
Having won the toss in the game against Haryana, Sarfaraz’s brother Musheer and Divyaansh Saxena added 69 runs for the opening stand before the former was dismissed by Nikhil Kashyap.
Mumbai were soon reduced to 84/4 before Sarfaraz and wicketkeeper Hardik Tamore added 117 runs for the fifth wicket. After Mumbai found themselves at 226/6, Sarfaraz added another 30 runs for the seventh wicket with Mulani before being dismissed by Kashyap.
