Aaron Taylor-Johnson To Be Seen As New James Bond? Netizens React After Ad Goes Viral
Has the next James Bond been accidentally revealed by a watch brand?
While it’s all still speculation, there may be some merit to the theory. Omega recently took to their official social media to share pictures of Aaron Taylor-Johnson visiting their headquarters in Bienne, Switzerland. The post read:
“OMEGA welcomes Aaron Taylor-Johnson to our watchmaking home in Bienne. The actor and Golden Globe winner stepped into our watchmaking home for an exclusive tour, meeting the watchmakers behind our timepieces.”
The announcement immediately triggered speculation among fans. One commented, “Bro has to be the new James Bond at this point,” while another added, “Do I hear the 007 theme?” A third simply asked, “Is this a hint?”
Fans spot a pattern
Some internet sleuths have drawn parallels with history. Both Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan were associated with Omega prior to being officially announced as James Bond. Craig joined as a brand ambassador in 2005 ahead of Casino Royale, and Brosnan in 1994 before GoldenEye. However, those ambassador announcements were made after their casting — unlike Taylor-Johnson, who has been signed before any official Bond confirmation. Critics argue this could be due to the modern era of social media marketing, where timing and announcements play differently than they did decades ago.
As of now, neither Aaron Taylor-Johnson nor Amazon MGM Studios—the new creative custodian of the Bond franchise—has confirmed anything about the actor officially donning the 007 title.
About Aaron Taylor-Johnson
The 34-year-old British actor is known for his versatile performances in both indie and blockbuster films. He gained early fame as the lead in Kick-Ass and portrayed Pietro Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also impressed critics with his portrayal of John Lennon in Nowhere Boy. A Golden Globe winner for Nocturnal Animals, Aaron has appeared in major films like Tenet (2020), Bullet Train (2022), The Fall Guy, and Nosferatu (both in 2024). Rumors about his potential casting as James Bond have been circulating since early 2024, though no official statement has been made by him or the studio.
The Future of the James Bond Franchise
Daniel Craig concluded his tenure as James Bond with 2021’s No Time To Die. Since then, the franchise has been in transition. Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios took over creative control of the iconic series, following Amazon’s acquisition of Bond’s parent studio in 2022. While longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson remain involved through a joint venture, Amazon MGM now holds the reins of decision-making.
As of now, no timeline has been provided for when the next Bond film will go into production or who will officially step into the role of the world’s most famous spy.
Since its inception in 1962 by Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, the James Bond franchise has featured six actors in the titular role across 25 films: Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig.
