Where are all the Expedition 33 Mimes? Clair Obscur has its fair share of weird and wonderful enemies, but Mimes are a cut above the rest. These hidden bosses are found in every major location on the Continent, and they are as much an ode to Clair Obscur’s French influence as the cosmetic rewards they drop.
Mimes aren’t the biggest boss challenge in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, but their unique moveset and ability to construct invisible barriers that absorb damage can make them appear impossible to defeat. However, like all mime artist tricks, this is just an illusion. We’ve delved into all the secret areas in the turn-based RPG to provide a complete list of all Mime locations, plus some essential tips on how to beat them.

How to beat Expedition 33 Mimes
All Mimes in Expedition 33 have the same skills and attack patterns, so once you learn how to beat one, you can beat them all.
To defeat a Mime in Expedition 33, you must first break the invisible barrier they construct during the First Strike battle phase. They summon this barrier no matter how fast your party members are, no matter how many Expedition 33 attribute points you put into Agility.
Skills that inflict Break damage are integral to breaking this barrier quickly. The best Expedition 33 builds include many of these skills, but all expedition members have Break attacks at their disposal. You can also equip Expedition 33 Pictos that enhance status effects like Burn to inflict damage over time and wear them down.
Here are the best skills to beat Mimes for each character:
- Gustave: Overcharge, Shatter
- Lune: Rockslide, Crustal Crush, Terraquake
- Maelle: Fleuret Fury
- Sciel: Phantom Blade, Final Path
- Verso: Perfect Break, Radiant Slash, Phantom Stars
- Monoco: Bruler Bash, Rocher Hammering, Break Point (Gradient)
Once you break a Mime’s stance, they remain stunned and vulnerable to damage until their next turn, so conserve AP to unleash powerful finishers. The best Expedition 33 weapons are a huge asset for this window of opportunity.

Aside from the initial barrier summon, Mimes have just two attacks that can both be dodged and parried. The “hand-to-hand combo” is a swift attack composed of three hits: a forward leap into an immediate right-hand slap, a follow-up left-hand slap, and a headbutt with a two-second wind-up. The “strange combo” is a little slower and involves the Mime summoning an invisible hammer to inflict four hits at regular intervals. These attacks inflict a lot of damage, especially in the early game, so get accustomed to parrying them to defeat them quickly.
Finally, be aware that the Sunless Cliffs Mime is the toughest of the lot. You can only take one character into battle against it, so make sure you’re suitably prepared before you take it on. Your first victory against this Mime rewards you with the Pictos and Bald haircut for the character you used to beat it. To unlock the cosmetic for all characters, you must challenge it multiple times with each expedition member.
Now that you’ve found and beaten all the Expedition 33 Mimes, discover the best Clair Obscur builds for taking on even more powerful bosses in the story. Our list of Expedition 33 outfits can help you complete your wardrobe with any cosmetics you missed in the fantasy game along the way.
